Saturday night came home and noticed the window was opened in a way I never have it opened. My nerves were relieved when my visiting friends from Busan assured me they have opened the window. Besides that, everything was same as usual. I shut the window and locked it before watching the horror movie, “Dead End.”
Sunday morning was brushing my teeth–walking around the house, as usual, while doing so–when I noticed the window bar’s shadow looked crooked. Revealing the cut/torn screen on the right side of the window, something was definately not right. I spat out the toothpaste, knowing full on C.S.I. (Crime Scene Investigation) was in order.
((Gasp)) The bars, that, not to mention were placed on my windows because some man tried to come into my un-barred window some 6 weeks ago, were busted. 5 of the 7 nails were removed from the wall.

The only reason he wasn’t able to come in was because tof a dresser blocking him from fully entering. However, he *could* have dislodged the other 2 screws, completly removing the bars from the wall, and entered. Maybe he saw my guest’s feet in the bedroom and was dissapointed to learn I wasn’t alone that night, and fled. Only Him and God really know.
How do I know it was a man? I went around my house with my Busan friends to find the side door had been busted open. From there, he was able to go around and into the garage, where the kitchen window faces out to.There, I was able to spot big size shoe prints (looked like Vans shoes) on top of the dresser. He squatted on the dresser as he dislogged the screws.

The kitchen window is not facing the street; it takes a lot of effort to get back there, as does my bedroom window. I think it may be the same guy as before, which is really, really scary. Today Mr. Hong, the maintenence man, put the screws back in, fixing the bars, then putting so much furniture infront of the window, creating a baracade. Still, people go by my kitchen/bedroom window on average once every 2 weeks. Usually kids out for an adventure, sometime ajuma (older women) snooping through all the furniture in the garage, but at night–it’s another story.
Over the past few days I’ve told people and am surprised at the seemingly care-less reaction of many; some have even laughed. To some it may be “no big deal,” but American’s often use the expression “3rd times the charm.” This is the second attempt. Thank God I’m taking Taekwon-do. If someone enters my house and tries to attacks me, God forbid I’d kill him in self-defense (in following the commandments)…but I hope anger overides my fear and I beat the living daylights out of him.

Mom: Stay calm. I’ve hestitated to write/post this blog b/c my first thought when I saw the window was my sister’s safety. Since then, maintenence has:
- Fixed the bars
- Baracaded the kitchen window with a crap ton of furniture. Unsightly, but safer. I’ll definately hear if someone is shifting about all that furntiure.
- Put a key pad lock on the side door (the door they busted into by the garage)
- Put a second lock on my apt. door. If someone opens the door, this lock makes it so the door only opens about 4 inches (enough for me to spray his eyes or stab him).
- The apt. manager has investigated the crime scene and will build a higher wall that no one can jump over (people have been jumping the wall and getting into the garage that way). He’ll do that “ASAP.”
- The maintenence man will put a window “privacy protector” on the bathroom window. That way, the bathroom window can remain open to ventilate while showering and using the toilet.

yeah, this is so not cool. I don’t appreciate you trying to keep it from me for so long either. Are you warning Shani to be EXTREMEMLY careful? I told her not to go out AT ALL without you and/or David.
Did the dead cat in front of your door have anything to do with this? Could it be that other guy you liked before David? Or do you suspect you do know who it is? The guy from the subway???
HAVE YOU REPORTED IT TO THE POLICE????? I think you should!!!!
Please be careful, and not only for yourself, but remember I have entrusted your sister’s life to you for the summer, so tend it carefully.
not exactly keeping it from you being that i posted it the week of about 2 weeks ago. yes, last night i had a detailed talk with shani about never to answer the door for anybody except the ppl i introduct her too and to not even let them know she’s home. ppl around her are weird…they have a “neighbhorhood light watch” but not a “neighbhorhood safety watch” do they not see ppl sneaking behind the house to my window or putting some dead cat in teh street YET a GROUP of sr.’s blabbed and complain about the garage light on and even knew i lived where i lived b/c when i came home they bitched at me to turn off the light. it really was baffleing. i’ve seen ppl brush their teeth with the water running constantly yet they are tripping about conserving energy about one light? how about my safety? it errks me.
the guy on the subway was a random drunken old man. it was just by coincidence. he kept on teh subway when i left and was there before i got on. he doesnt know anything about me excpet not to touch me if he sees me again unless he wants an butt kicking. yes, i am more concerned shani’s safety than my own.
